Introduction to Ceramic Sculpture

In this 4 week class students will immerse themselves into the world of sculptural Handbuilding. You will learn to make figurative and abstract sculptural forms using slab building, pinching, coil building, and additive/subtractive techniques. Your instructor, Katrina McFarland, will work with you one on one throughout the course to help take your ideas/concepts to reality. Basic surface, texturing, glazing, and finishing techniques will also be included.

Health & Safety - Students will need to wear closed-toed shoes, have long hair tied back, and avoid loose-fitting clothing which may get caught on items in the kiln yard.

• Classes will happen 8x a month and will be charged as a package for $350 
• Clay is NOT included, but will be available for purchase (from $25-$30/bag)
• Tools, brushes and glazes, & Cone 5 firing will be included
• Class is limited to 8 students & requires 3 students minimum for classes to run
• Open Studio Hours will be included with your class

Class Schedule:

• 10:00-10:30 Arrival and demo
• 10:30-11:45 Work period
• 11:45-12:00 Clean up
